One weekend we decided to grab a comforting bowl of Pho noodle soup and since we live in the city we walk everywhere. After a particularly cold, windy walk to the restaurant we were starved so we broke routine and decided to order an appetizer along with our Pho Tai. One of the best decision we ever made.
Serving 14 meatballs (1 in diameter)

Cook Time 10-25 minutes per batch
Ingredients
for meatballs
- 100 grams lean minced pork
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 inch lemongrass stem, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons green onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons yellow onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha (optional)
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- oil for frying (optional
for sauce
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
Directions
- Mix in all ingredients 1-11 for meatballs and let rest for 10 minutes
- Meanwhile, combine all ingredients for peanut sauce and set aside for later
- Using your hands, shape them into desired size balls
- Toss a light coat of plain flour over all meatballs and set aside
- If choosing to fry in oil, heat up over medium heat and carefully place meatballs in batches making sure the pan is not over crowded
- Turn meatballs constantly for the first 15 sec so it maintains the ball shape
- Cook thoroughly and it should take about 5 minutes per batch
- If you choose to bake the meatballs, set oven to 200 C and place meatballs on a lightly greased shallow baking dish
- Bake for 20 minutes, remove and let cool before handling
- Dip away and enjoy!
